Engineer
Plans bridges, roads and buildings before they are built.
What they do
An engineer draws a plan on paper long before anybody lays a brick. They work out how tall a building can be and how strong a bridge must be.
Then they visit the site with a helmet on to check the work.
Where they work: In an office and on building sites.
Let’s pretend
Build the tallest tower you can from blocks, then draw a picture of it. Test which shape at the bottom makes it steadiest.
